In Catalonia we are lucky to have two days a year to celebrate love. The first of them is February 14: Valentine's Day. From Gaudí Shopping we want to explain some curiosities about this journey that you probably did not know.

Lovers usually dedicate songs to each other or have some themes that characterize their relationship. Some of the most popular are The Way You Look Tonight (Frank Sinatra), My Heart Will Go On (Celine Dion) and I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing (Aerosmith). What is your song with your partner?
In Japan They Receive Chocolate
One of the most common gifts on this day is a box of chocolate. In Japan they celebrate the Tanabata Festival, where women must give chocolate to their lovers, so a month later (on March 14) they will receive the same in appreciation during the White Day.
A History of Help
According to the story, Saint Valentine was a priest who helped soldiers so they could get married in the third century in Rome. Emperor Claudius II had forbid marriage to young people because he considered that singles are better soldiers. Finally, upon being discovered, Valentine was imprisoned.
Men Invest More in Gifts
Romantic dinners, flowers and stuffed animals are the most common gifts on Valentine's Day. It is the men who usually spend the most. In addition, 30% of the population says that they do not want to celebrate this day but, however, they will do it because their partner likes to do it.
