The name CLIP is result of the first initials of the streets where it is located, Còrsega, Lepant, Industry, and Padilla.
It was built between 1949 and 1953 by Raimon Duran i Reynals and Miguel Fisas, when the neighbourhood began to consolidate its current appearance.
It occupies an Eixample block and maintains the same façade in the four streets.
