New access routes to the Sagrada Família due to construction on the future plaza

December 22nd. 2025

New Access Routes to the Sagrada Família

The Sagrada Família receives approximately 15,000 ticketed visitors daily, with a total of nearly 40,000 people gathering in the area. Most visitors arrive by tour bus at the Carrer Marina stop and proceed on foot to the intersection with Carrer Mallorca. Others arrive via Metro, primarily using the L2 line and exiting at the Mallorca-Marina station.

During the second phase of construction in the area, the presence of civic officers has been increased to guide visitors. The following recommended routes have been established to access the Basilica:

  • Individual visitors (with tickets): It is recommended to walk up either Carrer Lepant or Carrer Sardenya and enter the temple via Carrer Provença.

  • Groups (with tickets): It is suggested to walk up Carrer Sardenya and enter through the mountain side (banda muntanya) of Carrer Mallorca, or walk up Carrer Lepant and enter through the sea side (banda mar) of the same street.

  • Visitors without tickets: It is advised to take Carrer Lepant to Plaça de Gaudí or Carrer Sardenya to Plaça de la Sagrada Família.

Impact and Objectives

The goal of the ongoing works is to create a large 6,200-square-meter plaza between the Sagrada Família and Plaça de Gaudí, significantly expanding the public space. This project is part of the action plan for high-traffic areas (Espais de Gran Afluència) surrounding the Basilica, aiming to reclaim the neighborhood’s communal character and better manage visitor flows.
