Laia Riera: visual artist

Laia Riera Sanjaume, is a visual artist who uses painting, drawing and clothing as part of her artistic language. In her creative process, she explores changes in the body and mind, portraying figures in constant transition.

Her works portray women who represent fragments of their own memory, integrated into a collective memory. It paints ghostly identities that destroy or embrace knowledge inherited over generations. She uses symbols of the body and face as a particular lexicon, confronting herself and exploring connection with others.

She is inspired by fables, language, European shamanism and her experiences as an immigrant woman in various countries, reflecting in her art the creation of ties and barriers in contemporary identity.
