Joana Calsamiglia Reguant: Textile Art and Community
July 22nd. 2024
Joana Calsamiglia Reguant is a prominent textile artist who fuses creativity and social awareness in each of her projects. Specialising in the design and weaving of artistic tapestries, Joana uses a variety of fibres, both new and recycled, such as wool, cotton cord and rag. Her sustainable approach leads her to create her own fabric materials from disused clothing and home clothes, transforming the everyday into unique pieces of art.
In addition to her tapestries, which she exhibits in exhibitions, Joana organizes creative workshops where participants have the opportunity to design and weave their own tapestries. In these workshops, experimentation with textures and colors is encouraged through the use of wool, laces and recycled clothing, promoting both the technique of textile art and individual creativity.
Joana's workshops are much more than an artistic activity; they are spaces for meeting and reflection on deep social and personal issues, such as loneliness and Alzheimer's. With a feminist and intersectional perspective, Joana integrates these perspectives into all her projects, creating a connection between art and community that goes beyond the aesthetic.
